The late Kobe Bryant’s nephew is considered to have a genuine shot of making it to the NFL.

Kobe’s sister, Sharia, has a son named Jett Washington, who is one of the country’s most recruited prospects.

A safety, Washington plays for Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, but he also sees himself as a wide receiver. “A majority of schools see me as a safety, a free safety, but I think I could play receiver,” he told 247Sports recently.

The youngster, the No. 1 prospect for 2026 out of Nevada, has reportedly received offers from Florida, Georgia, Michigan, USC, and several other programs.

“I think I could do a lot of things on the field,” he added.

Washington excels at basketball too. Earlier this year, he featured for Bishop Gorman at his uncle’s old stomping grounds, the Crypto.com Arena, scoring 33 points in a Coastal Catholic Classic fixture. He knocked down a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send the game into overtime, but the school lost 82-81.

“My main thing right now is probably football, but some schools have asked me and brought up the idea of playing two sports,” he told the aforementioned outlet.

“If they bring it up and it is something that is doable, I would be interested in it, but I’m not going to go out of my way and be like ‘I’ve got to play basketball here’.”

Kobe Bryant’s Family Has Multiple Notable Athletes

Kobe Bryant was his family’s most prominent athlete, but he wasn’t the only one.

His father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, played in the NBA for eight years before heading to Europe. His uncle, John “Chubby” Cox, had a brief spell with the Washington Bullets, while his cousin, John Cox, played overseas for over 10 years.

Jett Washington still has two more years of high school left, but it appears he’s on a path to becoming another member of Bryant’s family who excels in professional sports.
