Mystery continues to surround Prince Andrew’s finances, and this has reportedly led to tensions between the monarch and his brother.
King Charles is said to be “frustrated” with the situation
King Charles is “frustrated with Prince Andrew” amid questions surrounding the Duke of York’s finances, according to a royal commentator.
Andrew managed to secure his costly residency at the Royal Lodge in November despite uncertainty over his income sources, and it’s unclear whether he’s yet disclosed this to the King.
Royal commentator Gareth Russell told GB News he believed this situation left the King “frustrated”, which has reportedly fuelled tension within the Royal Family.
Russell said: “There’s a great deal of mystery; whether he’s told the King or not. Certainly, the King has made it very clear what he wanted to happen.”
Russell believed it would soon come to light whether King Charles has asked for more details about Prince Andrew’s finances.
He added: “But at the minute, I think it’s very clear to all of us that the King is quite frustrated with the way this has played out.”
The Duke has held a lease agreement for the 30-room residence in Windsor since 2003, following the death of The Queen’s Mother the year prior.
The security bill alone is believed to be several million pounds per year, and the contract for is not due to expire until 2078.
Andrew receives no public funding from the Sovereign Grant, and it’s unclear where his money comes from.
