REVEAL: Five parenting rules Kate & Wills stick to EVEN in school holidays & ‘what happens when Louis, Charlotte & George fight’

Royal expert Claudia Joseph shared what Kate says to her kids ‘instead of just telling them to behave’

ALL eyes are on Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis when they step out in public, and they are often extremely well-behaved.

It turns out that mum Princess Kate has some parenting rules when it comes to her kids, even in the school holidays.

Speaking to Fabulous, royal expert Claudia Joseph said: “I think Kate has learned an awful lot from her legacy project, the early years project, about how to bring children up.

“She came from a very, very stable, happy family home, growing up with her sister Pippa and brother James.

“I think she has learned a lot from her mother and wants to replicate her happy childhood for her children.”

The biographer added: “They’re a very relaxed couple, and it shows in the way they are with their children.”

Here’s how the Prince and Princess of Wales raise their kids behind closed doors…

NAUGHTY STEP IS BANNED

While some parents swear by putting their kids on the naughty step, William and Kate are said to have banned this at their Windsor home.

Claudia shared: “I think both William and Kate are very much agreed on how they bring their children up, and they don’t want to shout at them, heckle them, or use the naughty step.

“They believe in explaining to the children what they’ve done wrong and why they have to behave well in public.”

KIDS ARE SEPARATED

Claudia insisted that Kate is a “relaxed” parent, who focuses on having “fun and letting off steam outdoors” with her kids.

If a disagreement happens, as is relatable in many families, the Princess of Wales is said to have a method of solving it.

The biographer claimed: “If there are loud words or arguments, the children are quickly separated and told off.”

She added that “ if stern words are needed, they’re rare.”

CAN LET HAIR DOWN

George, Charlotte and Louis are three of the most recognised children in the UK, but Kate and William are keen for them to have as normal a childhood as possible when they are off duties.

Claudia shared: “Obviously, they can let their hair down during their own time, and I think they behave like any other child does, with lots of banter and fun at home.”

She added: “I think Diana and Carole Middleton both wanted their children to have a very happy childhood, and Kate and William want their children to be brought up as much as possible like other children.”

CROUCHES DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL

It’s understandable that George and Charlotte may sometimes feel overwhelmed with the eyes of the world on them during public events.

However, Kate has a very personal tactic for making them feel comfortable, and likes to bend down so she is at the same eye level as them.

Claudia shared: “You often see Kate crouching down to children’s level and looking them in the eye, which is important for explaining what they’ve done wrong and listening to them.

“She and William are obviously very tactile; there are lots of wonderful pictures of them holding their children’s hands, taking them to school, or on bike rides.”

Kate Middleton’s ‘golden rule’ with George, Charlotte and Louis

KATE’S key rule for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis is about kindness.

According to HELLO! Online’s Royal Correspondent: “Based on observations of photographs of Princess Diana at the time, and the current Princess of Wales, they are both very affectionate with their children.

“Kate is often seen holding her children’s hands or picking them up for cuddles when they were smaller.

“There are often lots of comforting gestures, such as a pat on the back or stroking their hair. When interacting with other children on her public engagements, Kate often crouches down to their level to engage with them – something that Diana would often do.”

When she’s at the family’s home of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, despite her royal status, insiders say Kate is just like any other “normal mum”.

A friend explained that behind closed doors, the 42-year-old is “very chilled at home” but definitely not a pushover and will tell the kids off when needed.

They told PEOPLE: “It’s a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over. There’s no airs and graces.

“She is doing that to help her children be more grounded and keep their reality in check. That’s what really matters to her.”

REASONS WITH THEM

Often the kids are expected to stay still and behave for long periods of events such as commemoration services or parades.

Understandably, it can sometimes prove too much for the young tots.

Claudia added: “She [Kate] also listens to what they’re upset about.

“Instead of just telling them to behave, she might say, ‘Yes, I know it’s tiring, I know it’s boring, but you’ll be able to go and have fish fingers in an hour,’ or something similar.

“She reasons with her children.”
