Prince William is said to have also branded Meghan ‘difficult’
A ROYAL author has claimed that Princess Diana would not have liked Meghan Markle as the duchess likes things “her own way.”
Royal editor Ingrid Seward exclusively told The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson that it would be “difficult for any mother-in-law” to like the “powerful” Duchess of Sussex.

Ingrid claimed that Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997, would have clashed with former Suits star Meghan, who married into the royal family in 2018.
She said: “ No [Diana would not have liked Meghan].
“I think it would be very difficult for any mother-in-law to like Meghan because Meghan is a powerful woman and she likes her own way.
“Diana, a powerful woman, likes her own way.
“And mothers and sons, basically no one is ever good enough for their little boy.
“It’s the same with mothers and daughters, too.”
Ingrid also touched upon whether Prince Harry’s former girlfriend Cressida Bonas – who he dated between 2012 and 2014 – would have been a better choice for Prince Harry.

The royal expert said that Cressida is a “beautiful, lovely girl” but “she had no desire whatsoever to live that royal life.”
Ingrid added: “I remember her telling me that what she found really hard – and I think Diana used to find this really hard but it wasn’t so bad in her day – she’d be walking down the street and people with phone cameras would be taking pictures and say, ‘Oh, look, she’s got dirty hair.’
“‘Oh, look, she’s got her shoelaces are undone.’

“All these personal comments, which are really quite hurtful if you’re not born into it.
“And I think that she had no intention, really, of being Harry’s wife.
“ I think he would have loved it and I think he was very keen on her, but I don’t I don’t think she had any intention of ever marrying into that family.”
Prince William is also said to have had his misgivings about Meghan – and there was reportedly “simmering tension” when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.
After Harry and Meghan started dating, William knew Harry was already head-over-heels for the US star but wanted him to take it slowly.
A well-placed source said: “William told his brother they knew nothing about her background, her intentions, what she was really like.
“He just wanted to stress that becoming part of the Royal Family is a massive undertaking and the pressure and scrutiny is unrelenting. Was Meghan the right one?”
The chat did not go down well.
“Harry went mental,” said the friend. “He accused his brother of trying to finish his romance before it had begun. The brothers’ relationship has not really recovered.”
The Sun understands other senior members of the family also “had concerns” and voiced them to Harry.
In his book Spare, Harry said William branded Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a row.
Meanwhile, Prince Philip called Meghan the “D.O.W” after the Duchess of Windsor — the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.
Royal tension over Meghan Markle
Meghan and Harry had met in July 2016 on a blind date in Toronto, before making their first public appearance together in September 2017.
However, according to a Channel 5 documentary broadcast tonight, William & Harry: Princes At War?, the Prince William and Kate Middleton were surprised by the whirlwind romance that saw Harry get down on one knee after 16 months.
“It was all so quick that William and Kate didn’t have a moment to get to know Meghan because Harry hardly knew Meghan,” explained Ingrid Seward, royal expert and editor of Majesty Magazine.
“And of course William and Kate would have quite naturally thought ‘oh she’s been married before, she’s older than Harry, I hope she’s going to make him happy’. Anyone would think that.”
However, Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson said that Diana would have been “so proud” of Princes William and Harry’s wives.
Speaking to People magazine, Fergie, as she is affectionately known, said: “If she (Diana) were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, ‘I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen.
“Because each has got her own voice.
“And she would be just like me, obsessed with her grandchildren. Because that’s what she loved.
“Diana adored my girls. She adored the boys. This would be her haven. Her heaven.”
