Tensions are allegedly rising between King Charles and Prince Andrew over the Duke of York’s financial dealings. According to Royal expert Gareth Russell, the King’s annoyance stems from the mystery surrounding Andrew’s income, despite his continued residency at the Royal Lodge.
Speaking on GB News, Russell stated: “There’s a great deal of mystery, whether he’s told the King or not. Certainly, the King has made it very clear what he wants to happen.”
The King had reportedly suggested that Andrew relocate to Frogmore Cottage, which was previously inhabited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, Andrew remains at the Royal Lodge, where he has lived since 2003, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
As the lease agreement for the 30-room Windsor residence is set to continue until 2078, with an annual security bill amounting to millions, questions persist regarding the source of Andrew’s wealth, as he does not receive public funds from the Sovereign Grant.

According to the Express, Russell believes that the King’s frustration with the situation may soon lead to demands for further information on Andrew’s financial situation.

His previous income includes the 2007 sale of his Sunninghill Park home in Ascot to a son-in-law of a former Kazakh president for £15 million, despite MPs questioning why it sold for £3 million above the asking price.
In addition, he sold his ski chalet in Verbier, Switzerland, co-owned with Sarah Ferguson, in 2022.
