Prince William and Kate Middleton’s social media page shared a number of sweet snaps from the last year, including some from their most difficult moments
Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared several sweet photos as they wished fans a happy new year, marking the end of a “brutal” 2024 for their family.
The pictures, which were shared on their official social media page, featured joyful moments such as the family laughing in a field and standing with King Charles on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. This year has been especially tough for them as Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March.
One particularly moving photo displayed Kate’s return to public engagements following her treatment, where she and William met survivors of the tragic stabbings in Southport, England. Another photo celebrated Kate’s festive carol service at Westminster Abbey.
Kate and William wrote alongside the snaps, “Happy New Year! Wishing you all a wonderful 2025.”

In spite of their difficult year, the pictures highlighted memorable experiences, like when William, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George snapped a selfie with Taylor Swift. Another snap showed a moment from January with MND advocates.
Fans shared love and support for the royal family in the comments. One expressed, “Wishing a very happy and healthy New Year to my favorite little family. In what William called a “brutal” year, the Prince of Wales has managed to juggle his royal duties with personal challenges. Historian Tessa Dunlop told the Independent, “Naysayers who doubted William’s mettle have been forced to rethink. The Prince of Wales is royalty’s new rock.”
She also noted William’s resilience during his wife’s absence as akin to the late Queen Elizabeth, saying, “A reincarnation of his late grandmother, the steadfast anchor who changed it up with designer stubble when his wife was out of action, a woman’s man who unambiguously declared 2024 more than brutal, in fact, the toughest year of his life.”
The public has seemingly rediscovered their affection for Princess Diana’s eldest son, as Dunlop remarked, “The nation fell in love with Diana’s firstborn all over again. We had forgotten how tall he is, and how comfortable he is in his own skin. So comfy even Trump couldn’t bring himself to manhandle the future king on his pop-over to Paris.”
She concluded, “Without doubt, the rebirth of the Waleses as the country’s number one couple has moved our monarchy into a new space. These days they appear to be a double act, even when apart.”
