‘What’s He Been Smoking?’- Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer Fans Lay Waste to Tennis Legend for ‘Ridiculous’ Carlos Alcaraz Opinion

Carlos Alcaraz has been the talk of the town ever since he landed in the world of tennis. His remarkable performance over the last couple of years has drawn the praise of several experts in the racket sport. Recently, the Swedish former no.1 Mats Wilander branded Alcaraz’s forehand as the greatest of all time.

Wilander believes his forehand is better than those possessed by the likes of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Is it really so? Let’s find out what the fans had to say about this big statement by the former tennis player.

Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal fans stepping in to take a jibe at the former tennis player for his recent take on Carlos Alcaraz’s forehand

Wilander stated Alcaraz has got the looping forehand placement of Rafael Nadal. But he also mentioned that it’s quite different and better from that of Novak Djokovic in terms of its technique and acceleration. He added, “It’s not easy for me to analyse something that I don’t understand. Alcaraz’s forehand placement is highly unusual.” And here’s what ‘Fedal’ fans had to say on this.

One of the fans said, “Wilander’s been making some ridiculous statements lately, what’s he been smoking? Alcaraz is up there but Federer has the best FH in history, no debate.

Another one called it not better than Rafael Nadal’s forehand. He took a jibe at the tennis legend asking him to ‘stay off drugs.

The other fan called it ‘bias at its finest.‘ He agreed Alcaraz’s forehand is up there with Federer and Nadal but to say it’s the best is too much according to that fan.

Some of them took it a little further and stated, “I thought Wilander was off the drugs since 1995.”

Recently Alcaraz used this same weapon to seal his place in the QF of the Australian Open for the first time in his career. After seeing this stellar performance on Monday night the British former tennis player also agreed and praised Alcaraz for his game management.

Tim Henman also heaps praise on Alcaraz’s forehand

Carlos Alcaraz’s forehand was in devastating effect as he took down Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic by 6-4,6-4,6-0 at the Rod Laver Arena in a 1 hour 49 minutes encounter. With this win, he has now moved into the last eight of the tournament. Who’s up next? We’ll find out but before that let’s see what Henman said after Alcaraz’s thumping victory.

The 49YO Brit praised the Spaniard for having so many different options to work with in his game. He praised his technique and talking about Alcaraz’s forehand he said, “[His forehand] is a difficult shot but he makes it look so simple because he keeps his upper body so still, but the racquet head acceleration through the forehand is unbelievable. With that racquet head speed, sometimes he comes in and hits it flat going for the big winner, and other times when he wants to stay in the rally he comes up the back of the ball and gives it more air over the net.”

Henman added, “Then he’s got the drop shot where he just comes underneath it. He’s got the limitless options. It’s one of the most devastating shots in the game right now.” Carlos Alcaraz will next take on the number 6, Alexander Zverev in the QF of the AO. Can his lethal weapon prove to be the deciding factor against the mighty German challenger on Wednesday?
