In a nail-biting game that came down to the final possession, the Golden State Warriors lost 134-133 to the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors, guided by Steph Curry’s heroic efforts, watched victory slip away in the final minutes as a controversial choice by head coach Steve Kerr became the focus of post-game comments. Head coach Steve Kerr later expressed remorse for not calling a timeout in the final stages of the game.
He said, “These guys have been together for so long. I prefer the scramble situation. We got the Steph-Draymond pick-and-roll at the top. Steph was getting doubled and couldn’t get it over, and we wish could’ve taken a timeout.” Despite a spectacular 33-point effort from Steph Curry, his late blunder in the crucial last possession proved to be the game-changer. The Warriors’ crosstown rivals, the Sacramento Kings, took advantage of the error and won by a single point.
The 4x NBA champion was asked if a timeout was necessary to which Curry said, “We talked about it before both of Huerter’s free throws and me and coach kinda agreed that we gonna take kinda thinking that we going to be down three. But once he missed it and Klay got a great rebound, we had committed to going.”
He further added about the chaos of the situation and said, “Once JK gave it to me at that point probably, where the timeout either I or coach should’ve seen it.” However, despite the Warriors not looking in great shape this season, Stephen Curry has constantly been performing fo them and even managed to create history in the match against the Atlanta Hawks.
Curry creates a milestone on the all-time regular season games played list
On Wednesday evening, when the Golden State Warriors hosted the Atlanta Hawks at the Chase Center, Curry competed in his 920th career game. This milestone has propelled him to the 234th rank on the NBA’s all-time regular season games played list at just the age of 36. And despite this age, he is still in the top ten basketball players globally.
Curry was the seventh choice in the 2009 NBA Draft out of Davidson and is now in his 15th season with the Golden State Warriors. His incredible career includes taking the organization to the NBA Finals six times, winning four championships since the 2015 season, and solidifying his position as one of the league’s best players.
In 37 games this season, he has averaged 26.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, per game. However, even though he has been the support system for the Warriors, they have had a difficult start to the 2023-24 season, sitting 12th in the Western Conference with a 19-23 record.
