The never-ending search to determine who is the greatest tennis player of all time sparks intense discussion and argument every time it comes up. Every tennis player and fan has a different opinion regarding who should be the greatest among Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. In the same context, just a few days ago, WTA star Victoria Azarenka shared her take over the GOAT debacle.
But rather than going for Federer and Nadal, she has made her men’s side of the GOAT opinion quite clear, leaving both of them out of the discussion. Let’s take a look at who sits well at the GOAT roles in her diary from both the men’s and women’s side of the game.
“Djokovic is the boy” – Victoria Azarenka has made up her mind
Every tennis player has his own choice in answering the GOAT question. While a lot of them believe what Federer has done for the game categorizes for him to be the greatest, others believe that the GOAT debate should be based on athletic statistics. Last week, the two-time Grand Slam champion was asked a direct question regarding the same.
Although, she didn’t state the reason why she believes that Serena Williams is the ultimate GOAT, on the women’s side, and Djokovic on the men’s side. But at the same time, she made her opinion on the debacle quite clear, leaving the other two GOAT contestants, Federer and Nadal, out of the debacle.
Not only that, but just a few days ago, even the Grand Slam Champion’s trainer, shared a similar opinion as he highlighted how the 24-time Grand Slam champion carries an unmatchable versatility against Federer and Nadal.
Azarenka’s trainer believes “Djokovic is there because Federer and Nadal just set up the bar”
Just a few days ago, in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Francis Bougy issued a strong statement concerning the GOAT debate, which sits well with the 34-year-old tennis player’s GOAT choice. Talking about the fitness of the three legendary tennis players, he highlighted how he was quite impressed with Djokovic’s fitness.
He said, “For Djokovic, I’m really impressed with what he does. In the last 5-6 years, I believe Nadal is there because Federer pushed him to be better. And, I believe Djokovic is there because Federer and Nadal just set up the bar.” Moreover, he clearly stated that he had never seen a player like him who just wanted to go higher and succeed while having everything under control.
