The finalists have been confirmed for the men’s draw at the 2024 Australian Open. Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev will face each other for the first time in a grand slam match. All eyes will be on Sinner as he plays in a grand slam final for the first time. Fans worldwide appreciated his semifinal victory, including Italy’s top football clubs.
Sinner has been a fan of AC Milan since his childhood. Last season, he attended the UEFA Champions League match between AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund. The Italian posted on Instagram after his win over Novak Djokovic. “Bravo @janniksin,” was the comment from AC Milan’s official Instagram handle. SSC Napoli, too, wished Sinner on Twitter.

Sinner received praise from the WTA tour as Jasmine Paolini and Daria Saville wished him success. Rod Laver took to X to acknowledge the impressive feat by the young player. Sinner will be boosted by his semifinal victory in Melbourne and will need the same energy in the final. The championship match will occur at the Rod Laver Arena on January 28.
Jannik Sinner looking to capture first grand slam title at Melbourne
Over the past two weeks, Sinner has won 17 consecutive sets in Melbourne. He was about to win his 18th set against Novak Djokovic in the semifinal but could not make it in the tiebreaker. The 22-year-old has only played two tiebreakers at this year’s Australian Open. His matches have been dealt with quickly through high-powered groundstrokes from the baseline.
Sinner has hit 198 winners in six matches and averages 33 winners per match. After his first-round match, he has won more than 70 percent of his points in each match. The No. 4 has spent five hours less than Daniil Medvedev on the court. Sinner will have enough time to recover before the final. He will have to keep the points short against Medvedev.
The two-time grand slam semifinalist will need to improve his serve, as the Russian has been one of the top returners at Melbourne. Medvedev’s defense has been the best, while Sinner’s attack has been efficient. Both players have been successful at the net, even though they prefer to rally from the baseline. Sinner cannot afford any second chances against Medvedev.
