Tennis is one of the most prestigious sports out there. From the time it started, they had a separate fan base that respected the sport. With its evolution came the entry of the “Big Three,”  Novak DjokovicRafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.

These three have dominated the sport, sharing around 66 Grand Slam titles among them. With this comes the discussion of the “Greatest of All Time,” as every person picks a different player.

Revealing his pick among the big three was Stan Wawrinka, who appreciated the work done by the three in tennis while also stating that Djokovic is way ahead of the rest in terms of statistics.

They marked the history of tennis in a different way, the three. Djokovic is ahead of everyone else in all statistics.

Said Wawrinka via Marca.

While Federer only managed to win 20 Grand Slam titles, Nadal was in the lead for a long time with 22 Slams. However, more interestingly, last year, the Serbian won three Slams to surpass Nadal and become only the second person to have achieved this incredible feat.

Furthermore, Djokovic has beaten multiple more records after his last year’s dream run, inclining Wawrinka to choose him as the ultimate GOAT.\

During his interview with the renowned Spanish newspaper Marca, the Swiss star was asked if his Grand Slam wins had more value for winning them in an era dominated by the Big Four.

It's not for me to say if we should give it more value, but I know how hard it was to win with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic in the draws. I'm very proud of everything I achieved.

Wawrinka Said via Marca

Unsure about his answer, the 38-year-old revealed that he was extremely proud of winning three slams at times when it was extremely hard to beat Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer.

I’m happy to have been able to play against the best in history. Nadal, Federer and Djokovic have been the best tennis players ever seen. It was a challenge to face them as well as a satisfaction. I was always a long way from being able to win at Wimbledon. My best result there was a quarter-final. It’s also true that I never thought I’d win at Roland Garros, Australia and the U.S. Open.

Continuing his train of thoughts, he further addedWith that being said, times have changed drastically for Wawrinka, who has to play according to his body. At the age of 38, his movements are not the same as they once were. He faced many challenges at the beginning of the 2024 season, as the three-time Grand Slam champion only won one match in three tournaments. Wawrinka recently suffered a first-round exit at the Rio Open.

With the upcoming important tournaments and especially the remaining 3 Slams, Wawrinka’s form is unsure as he seems to struggle with the wins. Despite the age gap, he is trying his best to give some tight competition, making his matches exciting.
