Errol Webber, Politician and candidate for Governor General in California, had a few choice words for Cardi B, and she didn’t hesitate for one moment to clap back at him with precision and clarity.

In a blatant attack against her choice to perform the seductive sounds and sights of her song WAP on the Grammy’s, Webber tries to slam Cardi B for performing this explicit song on a show that many children may have viewed. He draws parallels to the way she turns WAP off when her daughter enters the room in a social media video, yet seems comfortable putting the lyrics and vulgar performance on full display for other people’s children.

Cardi B found an easy and swift defense. She reminded him about the glaring differences between both scenarios, and put attention on parental monitoring, which she demonstrated perfectly in the very example Webber tried using against her.

Cardi B Flips The Script

If you’re coming after Cardi B in an attack against her messaging and performance, you’d better have an air-tight case, or she’ll smear your complaints right back in your face the way she did to Errol Webber.

Webber posted the video of Cardi in which she quickly turns off WAP and stops it from playing when Kulture enters the room. He captions his rant by saying; “Cardi B cuts off WAP when her daughter, Kulture, walks into the room. She looks embarrassed. This is how you know Cardi B knows right from wrong, yet STILL deliberately chooses to do wrong by girating and scissoring her WAP on national TV… in view of other people’s kids.”

She came back at him by saying; “The Grammies are PG .That means parental guidance. Meaning is your job like it is to mine to my child to monitor what they watch. My performance was around 10 pm on a Sunday Your child should be in bed ready for school the next day why are they up watching Wap?”

Parents Need To Step Up

While there are surely many people out there that don’t agree with Cardi B’s persona, the fact remains, she is performing to an adult audience that has the choice to watch… or not. The mere fact that she turned off WAP when Kulture enters the room definitively represents her knowledge of the fact that this song is not intended for a younger audience, and proves her parenting skills are in order. It may be easy for Webber to dislike Cardi’s image, but it’s going to be difficult for him to continue with this attack.

Parents everywhere are responsible for monitoring the content their kids watch, in precisely the manner Cardi B did when her daughter walked in as she was playing her very own song. The arts are meant as a forum for freedom of expression, and Cardi B has made her point clear.
