Rapper Kanye West has been very active on social media lately. The rapper used his Instagram to call out a lot of celebrities and even clothing brands like Adidas and Gap. He came after Adidas for making decisions surrounding his Yeezy shoe collection without his involvement and then Gap for allegedly copying his Yeezy and Balenciaga collection. Rapper Diddy and record producer Swizz Beatz are siding with Kanye West in his battle against Adidas as they spoke in support of the rapper. Kanye West, who is legally known as Ye, accused Adidas of leaving him out of meetings regarding his Yeezy brand and also stealing his designs.
Rapper Diddy will boycott Adidas
A screenshot of a conversation between Kanye West and Diddy was posted by both of them on their social media accounts. In the picture, Diddy tells Kanye West, “please can [sic] send me something I could post in support of you! I never wear Adidas again for the rest of my life if they don’t make you right!!!!” to which Kanye West replied, “Praise God Love you.” The second slide of the post contained a picture of a Yeezy-like shoe released by Adidas with a red “X” over the photo.
Swizz Beatz spoke in support of Kanye West
Music producer and rapper Swizz Beatz spoke in support of Kanye West. He posted the same crossed-out shoe picture with a caption reading,
“I usually mind my business but this is DEAD WRONG! If we let them do this to @kanyewest it will happen to us also! This man created this groundbreaking innovation and it should be respected as a creative ! YE is only asking for his work to be respected and not stolen that’s not crazy to me !! We not buying these !!!!!!!!!!!! @adidas you’re supposed to be original do the correct thing please !!!”
Kanye West released his Yeezy collection with Adidas in 2015
Kanye West originally launched his first Yeezy collection under the Adidas name in 2015. Last month, the rapper posted a photo of Adilette 22 slides on his Instagram accusing Adidas of copying his designs. He also accused Adidas of making up “Yeezy Day”, a brand-made holiday that is celebrated on August 2, without his consent. His contract with the brand will end in 2026.
