Recently, Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. agreed to fight one another on September 12. The eight-round affair will utilize 12-ounce gloves and will look to be competitive but safe. Both fighters will be competing for charity and will be on PPV and Triller. Mayweather spoke with Fat Joe about the bout between Tyson and Jones. He believes he helped influence this fight, and that it will be an interesting affair.

“I think that we seem to forget about who was the pioneer of making exhibition bouts huge. Joe, a lot of times we forget about certain things. I mean, I think that it’s gonna be very interesting. I’m not here to say Tyson’s gonna win, I’m not here to say Roy’s gonna win. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be entertaining, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna watch it,” Mayweather stated, via Boxing Scene.

Mayweather came out of retirement in 2017 to fight UFC fighter Conor McGregor in a boxing bout. “Money” beat McGregor in the tenth round via TKO. He would then fight for RIZIN in 2018, beating kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa at RIZIN 14 in a boxing exhibition bout. Knocking him down three times, Mayweather would end up winning via TKO after one round.

The former five-weight, four-division lineal world champion previously told Insider that he would be interested in more exhibition bouts if offered more money. He is currently working out a deal with RIZIN to compete in another exhibition bout, and reports are stating he could face Takashi Uchiyama.

The fight between Tyson and Jones will take place inside the Dignity Health Sports Arena in California.
