The defense attorney in the XXXTentacion murder trial had earlier asked the court to order the Canadian rapper to testify due to his past rifts with the late rapper.

Jahseh Onfroy, popularly known as XXXTentacion, was ambushed, robbed, and killed in 2018 while leaving a motorsports store in Pompano Beach, Florida. On the trial’s opening day, the defense attorney representing the men accused in the murder case suggested that the One Dance hitmaker could be related to the case.

After this, the court ordered the rapper to appear in the courtroom via Zoom on February 24. According to TMZ, the judge has overturned the previous order that required him to appear in court later this month.

Drake Ordered to Sit For Deposition in the XXXTentacion Murder Trial

Last week, the court ordered the Canadian rapper, Drake, to appear in court to sit for a deposition in the XXXTentacion murder trial. The court passed the order after the defense attorney of one of the accused suggested that he might have some connection to the murder case.

The defense attorney also claimed that the rapper avoided his scheduled deposition, which was reportedly set for January 27. After this, the court ordered the rapper to appear in court in late February. The defense attorney made the claim based on XXXTentacion’s post, which was made months before his death.

In his post, the late rapper said, “If anyone tries to kill me, it was @champagnepapi [Drake]. I’m snitching RN.” However, the post was soon deleted, and the late rapper shared afterward that his social media was hacked. The alleged feud between the rappers started after the late American rapper accused Drake of stealing his rapping style. However, the Hotline Bling hitmaker denied the allegation.

Florida Judge Relieved Drake in the XXXTentacion Murder Trial

A Florida Judge has ruled that Drake would not be required to testify in the XXXTentacion murder trial. Judge Michael A. made the verdict saying that the rapper’s involvement in the trial is unnecessary and he would not need to set for a deposition.

Drake’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen claimed that there was a “lack of foundation” and that the defense attorney shared a Zoom link for the deposition without sealing it. He also said that involving him in the case seems like an attempt to “add more layers of celebrity and notoriety to a tragic and unfortunate event.”

Drake’s attorney also claimed that seeking a deposition from the rapper is “unreasonable,” further adding that he had no knowledge about the case as his name did not appear in the investigation files. The suspects in the XXXTentacion murder case are Michael Boatwright, Trayon Newsome, and Williams, who could receive life sentences if they are convicted of first-degree murder.
