The pop star pair have been broken up for longer than you think.

Last weekend, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were spotted hanging out and the pics that hit the web quickly spiraled into a wave of speculation about the status of Selena’s relationship with The Weeknd.

At first, it seemed that they were still together and the Weeknd was cool with Jelena’s renewed friendship. Then it was revealed that Selena and The Weeknd had broken up before Jelena even started hanging out again. THEN, reports suggested The Weeknd still wasn’t cool with Jelena hanging out twice so soon after their split.

NOW, it seems The Weeknd really isn’t losing sleep over Jelena linking up again. According to TMZ, The Weeknd is the one who decided it was time to pull the plug on his relationship with Selena.

Sources close to The Weeknd and Selena told TMZ that their relationship had been cooling down since Summer and they rarely saw each other because of his touring schedule and her shooting schedule conflicting. That eventually led to them talking less frequently on the phone and the relationship eventually lost its passion.

Apparently it was several weeks ago when The Weeknd called Selena and explained that their relationship wasn’t working anymore.

So Sel’s reunion with Justin came some time after their split. Selena and the “Starboy” singer remain friendly according to TMZ.

By the looks of a video of The Weeknd breaking it down on the dance floor with a mystery girl on Monday making the rounds online, it looks like The Weeknd isn’t moping over the split or the resurgence of Jelena.
