New York Yankees’ Billionaire Owner Speaks on Blake Snell Links, Affirms World Series Aspirations Amidst Yankees’ 2024 Redemption

Redemption.

That is the focus for the New York Yankees in 2024. Following a disaster season last year, the Bronx Bombers are looking to prove a point.

With the Juan Soto trade and several other off-season additions, Yankees’ owner Hal Steinbrenner has made it clear he is looking to win. But now, the billionaire has further committed to winning a World Series with his latest comments.

Despite making several moves, the Bombers still have holes in their pitching rotation. Links to Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery have grown in recent weeks, despite a gap in valuation. Most recently, Steinbrenner has opened up on further roster additions while making his intention crystal clear.

New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner is open to further moves

The Yankees have been active this off season. By adding Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo and other pieces, they have strengthened their weak outfield. Bombers GM Brian Cashman has made other moves as well, but the team still has a few holes that need to be filled.

Amidst recent Blake Snell links, Hal Steinbrenner said that he is fully committed to making the Yankees World Series champions once again.

While speaking to The Athletic, he said, “I think we have a championship-caliber team right now, but we haven’t stopped looking to improve and we never will. We’re able to do whatever we’re able to do all the way up to the trade deadline. That’s a long time from now.”

“I’m just going to continue to tell you that we continue to look at a lot of different options,” Steinbrenner said. “I’m still willing to consider anything that Cash and his team bring my way. I’ll leave it at that. We are not done trying to improve this team.”

Pitching seems to be the biggest concern at the moment, with Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes Jr. recovering from disaster seasons. Hence, Blake Snell links have grown in recent weeks.

Blake Snell rumors grow but a deal is complicated

When asked about Snell directly, “Steinbrenner declined to speak about specific free agents and about conversations with certain agents (Scott Boras) but made it clear that the team hasn’t closed for business this offseason.”

The two sides are far apart on valuations with at least over a $100 million separating the Bombers and Snell. While the Yankees have offered a deal in the range of approximately $150-162 million, the lefty ace is seemingly eyeing a pact worth $240-$270 million. Despite Hal Steinbrenner’s willingness to spend money, the Yankees’ payroll is anything but cheap with a Juan Soto free agency incoming as well.

It will be interesting to see if the billionaire owner sanctions a surprise star addition. What do you think of Hal Steinbrenner’s statement on adding talent? Kindly share your thoughts in the comments below.
