MEGHAN Markle is obsessed with social media comments and constantly monitors Instagram, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex made a return to social media on Wednesday in what was her first personal online post in several years.

She posted for the first time on her @meghan Instagram account, uploading a solo video of herself frolicking at the beach and writing “2025” in the sand, teasing more to come in the New Year.

Meghan also gave fans an insight into her show With Love, Meghan, which airs on January 15, in a new trailer.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier has now weighed in on the latest move by the Duchess of Sussex.

He exclusively told The Sun: “Harry and Meghan are control freaks, there’s no doubt about it.

“And in putting this up on Instagram I think Meghan’s teasing us quite considerably.

“She’s already apparently turned off the comments so that people can’t interact with her. But of course, the actual video that she’s posted online doesn’t really tell us anything.”

Dampier claims that the latest move seems to be in an attempt to “try and control the narrative” online.

He added: “This tends to indicate that the Sussexes are rather thin skinned.

“They have complained in the past about the abuse that they get online, Meghan in particular.

“She has said that she’s one of the most abused people in the world, so she wouldn’t necessarily want to see these comments.

“I think she really wants to get back on social media despite her protestations that she gets abused online.”

Dampier went on to claim that the Sussexes’ past behaviour has shown them to be “very media obsessed”.

He added: “I think that’s been one of their biggest problems, because if they weren’t so obsessed, if they learned to just ignore some of the stuff and let it wash over them, they could possibly find some much more useful things to do in life.

“But unfortunately, that’s where we are – and this is all part of that.”

Meanwhile Hugo Vickers said: “They read everything available that’s written about them, and they monitor everything.

“So they’re going to – as with anybody in public life – get a lot of flack and criticism along with the support that some people still give them.”

The Sun has approached the Sussexes’ representatives for comment.

It comes as as Meghan’s new Netflix documentary trailer shows her cooking with Hollywood pals.

There will be eight 33 minute episodes featuring a host of Meg’s various Hollywood friends trying her simple, yet “elevated”, food.

Meghan Markle is set to earn £800,000 per post on her new Instagram account, it is claimed.

However, the Duchess of Sussex has reportedly switched comments off on her new Instagram account to avoid any backlash.

Meghan can then be seen drawing the digits 2025 into the sand while wearing an all-white ensemble.

She finally turns to the camera grins before playfully running away.

The clip was captioned simply “@meghan”.

Experts have previously estimated the former Hollywood actress, 43, could make $1milllion (£790,000) per post as “an absolute minimum”, reports MailOnline.

The launch of the duchess’ new account – replacing her old meghanmarkle Instagram which boasted 3 million followers – comes after the Sussexes swore to stay of social media.

The couple said they had had to deal with an “almost unsurvivable” amount of abuse.

The beach clip – Meghan’s first social media post in years – was uploaded on Wednesday but fans questioned why she’d turned off comments.

One person labelled her a “coward”, though many others showed support for the decision.

Fellow Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, who played Dana Scott on the hit show, made an appearance in the trailer.

Producer, actress and comedian Mindy Kaling could even be seen saying this was “one of the most glamorous moments” of her life.

A montage of various clips in the nearly two minute video showed Meghan walking through vegetable patches and fields.

The Duchess even tried her hand at beekeeping, fully suited up, as she collected honey.
