The Tigers got custom Beats headphones from their star player
LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson and Angel ReeseInstagram: flaujae
Angel Reese gave a stunning gift to her LSU teammates, delivering custom purple and gold Beats by Dre headphones ahead of the Tigers’ huge showdown with No. 1 South Carolina.
As the video went viral, it didn’t take long for controversy to arise, as fans pointed out that one member of the team did not appear to get a pair of Beats: Flau’jae Johnson.
Social media sleuths in the TikTok comments noticed Johnson’s subdued demeanor in contrast to the thrilled coaches and teammates who immediately took the new tech for a spin and heaped thanks on Reese. The sophomore guard did not even have a box at her seat, like the rest of her teammates.
“Y’all ain’t peep how she didn’t give flaujae one ?” said a comment with nearly 200 likes.
One factor that added to their suspicions was the off-court controversy from earlier this season, when Johnson’s mom and Angel Reese’s mom had a dramatic social media spat during Reese’s widely-publicized absence from the team.

Dueling NIL drama
However, the two players never had any issues with each other, and those hoping to find a rift in the LSU team stemming from Angel’s kind act were left empty-handed.
The multitalented hooper and rapper did receive a pair of Beats, but because of her NIL deal with rival headphone company JBL, she could not show them off in the video. Flau’jae also juggles NIL partnerships with Puma, Powerade, Raising Cane’s and Tampax, to name a few.
Meanwhile, Reese’s array of Name, Image and Likeness deals brings her net worth to $1.7 million, according to On3.

Kim Mulkey will hope that Angel’s gift gets her team locked in to face the Gamecocks, because she will need Reese and Johnson at their very best to pull off an upset. South Carolina has won the past 11 matchups against LSU with an average scoring margin of +17.3.
