Travis Kelce has jokingly thanked Taylor Swift ‘for joining the team’ as the Kansas City Chiefs star and brother Jason praised the singer for ‘reaching the Super Bowl in her rookie year’.

Swift was in Baltimore on Sunday to watch her boyfriend and the Chiefs make it through to the NFL’s showpiece game next weekend in Las Vegas with a win over the Ravens.

She has now attended 12 of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games this season, and is expected to make it 13 – her lucky number – at the Super Bowl next weekend.

Swift sat in a suite with Travis’ mom, Donna, and dad, Ed, as well as Jason on Sunday before they all made their way down to the field to celebrate with the tight end after the game.

Speaking on the latest episode of their ‘New Heights’ podcast on Wednesday morning, Jason gave Swift a hilarious shout out for her accomplishment.

The Philadelphia Eagles star said: ‘Also, shout out to the newest member of Chiefs Kingdom. Taylor Swift, who has officially reached the Super Bowl in her rookie year.’

Laughing in the background, Travis added: ‘Shout out to Tay. Thanks for joining the team.’

The brothers went on to talk about an exchange between Swift and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid after the game.

Swift’s family – who are Eagles fans – know Reid from his time in Philadelphia and the coach made sure to give the singer a wave from the podium.

Jason said: ‘This is the great photo tweeted out of Big Red (Reid) showing a little love to Taylor on the stage. They’re pointing at each other.’

Travis interrupted, adding: ‘We’re going to the Super Bowl baby. We’re going to the bowl. We did it. We’ve already talked about how they kind of know each other from the Philly days.

‘Scott Swift (Taylor’s dad), shout out to big Scott, and Andy are good friends. That was a cool moment to see afterwards. I didn’t get to see it because I was on the stage screaming but yeah, that was a cool one.’

Jason added: ‘Yeah we had the whole family down on the field. We had me, mom, dad and Taylor. Everybody was down there.’

A report on Tuesday claimed Swift ‘fits in seamlessly’ with Kelce‘s family, who ‘don’t see her as a superstar’ when they spend time with her.

According to an insider for People, the couple are ‘genuinely happy’ together and part of the reason is how Swift fits in with his family and loved ones.

They said: ‘It’s obvious, isn’t it? They’re genuinely happy together. She’s there to support him and cheer him on, and she’s fit in seamlessly with everyone he loves.’

The source added that his family ‘don’t see her as “Taylor Swift” the superstar’ when she’s around them because of her down to earth personality.

The Chiefs secured their spot in a fourth Super Bowl in five years on Sunday with a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Travis admitted winning on the road and overcoming adversity in recent weeks has made this year’s Super Bowl run even sweeter.

He said: ‘Man, it just feels a little bit sweeter. I don’t wan to rip out anyone’s heart in KC but this road to where we are now has been more of a challenge, which means you have to overcome more and it kind of means a little bit more.

‘Although I cherish all the games I play in Arrowhead, every single one of them, this one meant a lot because the guys we had, how we persevered through a lot of the things we weren’t doing during the seasons and it just felt that much better.

‘You could feel it in the locker room afterwards, you could feel it on the plane ride home. Typically if you win one at home you just go straight from the field to your house or wherever your family is off the field.

‘This time we got a whole two-hour flight to ourselves where we were just partying. It was electric, it was awesome. The coaches were coming back to where the players were, just reminiscing on the season and enjoying every single bit of being around each other and what we had just accomplished for the second season straight.

‘We’ve got a special group, man, and that’s why this one feels just that bit better.’
