Taylor Swift received heat for reportedly not being a “good sport” when she attended the Golden Globe Awards.
Swift and Jo Koy appeared in the headlines after the ceremony due to the comedian’s joke about her relationship with Travis Kelce. The “Lover” singer also went viral for her reaction that was caught on cam.
Taylor Swift Slammed for Being Too Sensitive
Megyn Kelly recently commented on Swift’s reaction and said it was a wrong move that she did not laugh at Jo Koy’s joke.
Kelly said on her SiriusXM show, “Can’t she just like show that she’s a good sport? I think she made the wrong move. By the way, she’s not in charge of the number of times the NFL chooses to put her on cam. That’s not her fault.”
“It is annoying, and if she were smart, she would laugh like she was in on the joke,” the political commentator continued.
Per Kelly, she would have told Swift to go along with Jo Koy’s joke so she could show fans she knew that the NFL’s coverage of her during games was too excessive.
For what it’s worth, Jo Koy made a reference to the attention Swift gets whenever she comes to her beau’s game with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL – on the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” the stand-up comedian, born Joseph Glenn Herbert Sr., said. “I swear, there’s just more to go to.”
Swift was seen taking a sip from her drink while her eyes were set on the host. She also did not show any other response aside from her “unimpressed” and “serious” look.
Jo Koy Says It Was a Compliment
In his interview with Extra, Jo Koy – who was contacted by the organizers for the gig only a few weeks before the event – explained his side and said it was his way to tell Swift to feel more intimate at the event than the times she is in the NFL venues.
“But it was more on the NFL, you know what I mean? I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutaways and how the Globes didn’t have to do that. It was more of a jab towards the NFL, but it just didn’t come out that way,” he told “Good Morning America.”
