Sony’s upcoming Marvel film featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson may never let Garfield make his Spider-Man comeback.

There have been two separate occasions when the face of Spider-Man has changed in the film industry over two decades. While Tom Holland may be the latest and arguably the most successful among them all, the charm of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as the web-slinger is still well-cherished.

But with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we were reintroduced to these amazing actors as their iconic characters from Marvel Comics. Thus, with newfound popularity and demand, there was a chance that Garfield may return as Spider-Man in Sony’s Spiderverse. Alas, the release of Karven The Hunter in the future has crushed that possibility by introducing a new Rhino.

How Kraven The Hunter Crushes Hopes For Andrew Garfield’s Return As Spider-Man

He may have been forgotten in the past for his performance as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man series by Sony, but Andrew Garfield‘s recent rise in popularity with the last Spider-Man film of the MCU cannot be ignored by anyone. Thus, there have been many rumors that point to the fact that Sony may make a third Amazing Spider-Man film as demand for his return rises.

But the company seems to have given up on that chance way in the past as Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s upcoming Spiderverse film Kraven The Hunter has created a revival impossible.

With the release of the aforementioned film’s trailer earlier this year, we got a glimpse of what we can expect from this film featuring one of the biggest villains from the Spider-Man lore from the comics. Towards the end, we also saw another supervillain alongside Kraven, which was none other than Rhino.

This proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Hacksaw Ridge star’s Spider-Man return, as in the last film of The Amazing Spider-Man series, we saw Parker take down Rhino twice, which meant that he was canon to the series.

But with the introduction of a new face for a new Rhino with his backstory potentially being renewed for the upcoming film, it’s almost impossible to connect those two timelines if Sony was thinking of reintroducing Garfield as the Spider-Man of their Spiderverse with Venom and Morbius in the franchise.

While there may be no official confirmation about Garfield’s return as the friendly neighborhood superhero on the big screen, Tom Holland might be making his comeback after all.

Earlier, it was revealed that Sony will be working on Spider-Man 4, which will be their production of a Spider-Man film in almost a decade. It’s also reported that Marvel Studios will be helping Sony out for this film which might be connected to the MCU. Along with that, the latest reports suggest the project may soon be going into production as it’s looking at potential directors like veteran Jon Watts or Drew Goddard to helm the upcoming film.
