It comes as the Duchess of Sussex, 43, launched her show With Love, Meghan

Thomas told the Mail about the Duchess’ first husband, Trevor Engelson, who he said he “really liked”.

According to the outlet, the 80-year-old’s home was filled with several of Meghan’s pictures, including from her first wedding to Engelson.

Meghan divorced the Hollywood producer just two years before being introduced to Harry through mutual friends.

On one table in Mr Markle’s home, there were videos of her wedding to Engelson, who she married on a beach in Jamaica in 2011.

Thomas said: “I really liked Trevor. I don’t think he ever understood why she dumped him either.”

The father-of-three has yet to even meet his son-in-law Prince Harry.

Thinking ahead, Thomas confessed he has resigned himself to the fact he will most likely never meet Archie, five, or Lilibet, three.

Thomas has suffered two heart attacks and a stroke in recent years and has been living in Mexico for the past 10 years.

But he announced he will be leaving his home after a decade, reports the outlet.

Meghan’s father also confirmed he has yet to meet his son-in-law, Prince Harry, or his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.

He told the outlet he’s come to accept he most likely never will, but suggested that the door remains constantly open for him.

Regarding his estranged daughter, Mr Markle said that while he doesn’t “like” some of the things she’s done, he “will always love her”.

He said: “I don’t like some of the things my daughter has done but I will always love her. My door is always open to her. I love her and that will never change. I love all my children.”

In September last year, Thomas branded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “cruel” as he made a plea to see his grandkids on live TV.

He appeared on Good Morning Britain where he spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about healing his relationship with his daughter, as he shared his hope to see his grandkids.

Speaking on the show, Thomas said that he was desperate to see Archie and Lilibet, adding it was “cruel” for him not to be allowed to see them.

He said: “I’m very upset about it as well because this is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent … To deny the right to see their grandchild.”

More than a year on, the father-of-three admitted he will most likely never meet Archie and Lillibet, but is looking forward to travelling with his son and Meghan’s half brother, Thomas Jr.

He said “it’s time to move on” and “enjoy the time I have left” somewhere that offers “peace”.

Thomas has been estranged from his daughter since suffering two heart attacks on the eve of her wedding to Harry.

The pensioner was unable to walk her down the aisle, and they’ve not been in contact since.

Further turmoil between the pair erupted after Thomas posed for paparazzi pictures ahead of Harry and Meghan tying the knot.

However, Meghan has previously shared the hurt and “betrayal she felt” by her father.

She opened up about her relationship with her estranged dad and said she was left feeling crushed when he lied to her about not talking to the media.

In her sensational interview with Oprah in 2021, Meghan said: “I’m trying to decide if I’m comfortable even talking about that.

“It was… if we were going to use the word betrayal.”
