This is the real reason behind why James Hetfield, Metallica frontman, divorce his wife of more than two decades of marriage
Several sites have indicated that James Hetfield, the main singer and guitarist for Metallica, and his wife Francesca, who has been married for 25 years, are divorcing.
On August 13, TMZ revealed that Hetfield had filed for divorce in Colorado earlier in the year. Francesca subsequently verified this information in a statement. “I am really saddened that my marriage has come to this after 30 years of ups and downs but always with a lot of love,” she said.
Castor, Marcella, and Cali are the couple’s three children. They met in 1992 and were married in 1997.
Following the TMZ article, Hetfield spoke movingly to his supporters during Metallica’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, show at PNC Park. The 59-year-old guitarist and vocalist touched on the delicate subject of suicide while introducing the song “Fade to Black.” He reassured them by saying, “You are not alone,” and emphasized the need of getting treatment. He pushed the audience to talk about it without holding back.
Hetfield said that he moved his family to Vail, Colorado, in 2016 because he wanted to be away from what he saw as the “elitist” politics of the Bay Area and to be nearer to nature. Even though Metallica’s primary office was still located in San Rafael, Hetfield felt that the attitudes and ideals of the Bay Area did not align with his own.
At a Metallica performance in Brazil in May, Hetfield candidly discussed his fears with the audience while highlighting the encouragement he got from both fans and other band members.
In 2001, James Hetfield’s drug problems came to light, which resulted in his first stay in treatment. He had re-entered a treatment center, according to the band’s 2019 statement, which cited his continued struggles with addiction. Hetfield’s previous struggles with anger management and drug misuse were often attributed to Francesca’s encouraging role in guiding him through these obstacles.
The news of the divorce coincides with the much awaited December 8, 2022, release date of Metallica’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, “Pink Friday 2.”
