Actor Emma Watson has always been a vision of elegance and grace, so it’s no surprise that her latest fashion statement is turning heads in all the right ways.

On October 17, the star attended the Earthshot Prize 2021 ceremony in London. Held by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s charity the Royal Foundation, the annual prize is awarded to game-changers finding solutions to the climate crisis. Emma looked radiantly confident wearing bootcut black pants, chunky black boots, and a high-low white tulle dress. There were layers to this look and the simplicity of her lower half gave her backless gown its well-deserved moment of glory.

In keeping with the eco-friendly theme of the evening, the story behind Emma’s green carpet look is the sustainable cherry on top. From her bold boots to her dainty jewelry from Missoma, Emma’s entire look was masterminded by American-British designer Harris Reed. According to Harris’s Instagram, Emma’s custom ‘fit was made from up-cycled wedding dresses sourced from British thrift store chain Oxfam. “Emma wears full Up-cycled Demi- Couture gown from my collection FOUND using old wedding dresses from @oxfamgb,” the post reads.

The striking look marked Emma’s first public red carpet appearance since 2019 and perfectly captures the high/low trend that has been taking over fashion week runways this season. Mix and matching casual staples with a dressed-up centerpiece is the new wave. There were luxuriously silky boxing shorts and painted cargo jackets at Dior, while Simone Rocha paired leather biker jackets and vintage-inspired cardigans with organza skirts.
