The Tamil film industry is abuzz with the news of actor Vishal Krishna’s impending wedding. Known for his action-packed roles in films like ‘Madha Gaja Raja’ and ‘Sandakozhi,’ the 47-year-old actor has confirmed he is getting married — and the bride-to-be is none other than actress Sai Dhanshika. Following months of speculation, the couple made the announcement official at the trailer launch of ‘Yogi Da,’ a film headlined by Dhanshika. The two will tie the knot on August 29, 2025.

Who is Sai Dhanshika?

Sai Dhanshika is a versatile actress recognised for her impactful performances in Tamil cinema. Born on 20 November 1989 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, she stepped into the industry with ‘Manathodu Mazhaikalam’ in 2006, where she was credited as Marina. The film, directed by the late Arputhan, featured her alongside Shaam, Nithya Das, and Malayalam actor Jayasurya in a coming-of-age drama.

After her debut, she appeared in films such as ‘Maranthen Meimaranthen’ and ‘Thirudi.’ She also ventured into Kannada cinema with ‘Kempa,’ where she was credited as Thanushika.

Her breakthrough came in 2009 with ‘Peranmai,’ an action film directed by Jananathan and starring Ravi Mohan. The movie, which loosely drew inspiration from the Soviet war film ‘The Dawns Here Are Quiet,’ focused on a tribal forest officer and a group of college girls entangled in a national sabotage plot. Dhanshika’s role in the ensemble cast drew critical attention, and she followed it up with performances in ‘Aravaan’ and ‘Paradesi,’ which further showcased her range.

She gained wider fame in 2016 with ‘Kabali,’ where she played the daughter of Rajinikanth’s character, alongside Radhika Apte. The role brought her into the mainstream spotlight, although it also stirred controversy when actor T Rajendran publicly criticised her.

Dhanshika later made her Malayalam debut with ‘Solo,’ starring Dulquer Salmaan, and ventured into Telugu cinema with ‘Shikaaru.’

Wedding announcement and Nadigar Sangam Project

The announcement of Vishal and Dhanshika’s wedding came during the audio and trailer launch of ‘Yogi Da,’ where Vishal appeared as the chief guest.

Dhanshika, while speaking at the audio and trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Yogi Da’, said, “This morning, there was a news report. After that, Vishal and I spoke to each other before coming here. We agreed to only say that we had been friends with each other for 15 years.

“However, there is nothing to hide from you (the media) whom we consider family. We have decided to get married on August 29. I have known Vishal for 15 years. Wherever we meet, he has always given due respect. Whenever I have had issues, he has raised his voice for me. When there was a problem, he came to my house. We started speaking to each other recently and it(love) blossomed then. It occurred to him and to me as well. We mutually accepted it. We realised that this was going to lead to marriage. So why wait? There is only one thing. I want him to be happy,” she said and turning around to Vishal, who was on stage, said, “I love you.”

Vishal, who had turned up for the event for Dhanshika, spoke next. The actor began his speech by recalling a vow he had made several years ago that he would get married only after completing the construction of the Nadigar Sangam building.

He said, “I told actor Karthi, I am going to put a chair at the site where the construction of the Nadigar Sangam building is taking place. Karthi is the one who is looking after the construction activities. I told him, until you finish, I am not going to leave the place because my wedding has been fixed. I have also got a bride. With the permission of the bride’s dad, who is present here, I would like to announce the bride’s name as Sai Dhanshika.”

The actor further said, “I want to, I love to and I am going to marry Dhansika. A wonderful person. Both of us understand each other very well.

Yes, Dhanshika and I are going to get married. I think I am a very fortunate person. God always saves the best for the last. That way, I think he has saved Dhansika for the last. We are going to lead a very positive and lovely life. We have good understanding now and it will always be there.”

Actor Vishal also said that Dhanshika would continue to act after the wedding as well. “She has talent and it shouldn’t be stopped,” he said and added, “Dhansika is my soulmate. I wholeheartedly love her.”

Vishal, who has long said he would only consider marriage after the completion of the Nadigar Sangam building project. With the Nadigar Sangam project nearing completion, fans believe the timing couldn’t be more fitting.

Previous dating rumours and public reactions

Vishal’s personal life has often been a subject of media scrutiny. In 2018, he was linked to actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. However, Varalaxmi addressed the rumours directly: “We are very close friends. We share things but the reports about our relationship are all false. Actually, if Vishal is up for marriage, I am ready to find a suitable bride for him. I will be happy if he gets married. I wonder why everyone is spreading false rumours about us.”

Vishal also dismissed those claims, affirming that he and Varalaxmi had been childhood friends. In the years that followed, his name was also loosely associated with actresses Abhinaya and Abhirami, although none of those reports were confirmed.

Health scare

Earlier this month, Vishal’s health briefly made headlines when he fainted during a beauty pageant event in Villupuram on 11 May. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital. On the following day, his team issued a statement saying the incident had been caused by skipping breakfast and assured the public that the actor had fully recovered.
