Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee, celebrated for classics like Manzil, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and Benaam, recently reflected on her experiences working with legends like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. In a candid interview, she recalled how Rajesh Khanna often showcased his fame and fortune during their time together on set.

During a conversation with Filmfare, Moushumi recalled the time when she was shooting for a film with Rajesh.

Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee known for some of the renowned films of the 60-70s like Manzil, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Benaam to name a few, has shared the screen with legendary actors like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. In a recent interview she spoke about Rajesh Khanna and how he used to flaunt his wealth and stardom.

During a conversation with Filmfare, Moushumi recalled the time when she was shooting for a film with Rajesh. She said, He always used to call me to show that he is Rajesh Khanna, ‘The Khanna’. Aur unka hota bhi tha. Unka tea break hota tha lavish silver tray mein chai yeh woh. (His tea breaks used to be lavish with tea served in silver tray).”

She also mentioned, “He would send Gopal to call me and tell me that he is waiting or me. He would go and say that ma’am is having her tea with the spotboy and he couldn’t get over it. He used to say, ‘Moushami I am calling you two-three times. Lunch also you don’t eat with me. Lunch you will have with your makeup man and hair stylist.”

The 77-year-old former actress stated, “I have never seen any hero showing off his wealth like him. That is only Rajesh Khanna.”

In a previous interview with Anandabazar Patrika in Bengali, Moushumi had once talked about Rajesh Khanna’s egoistic nature. “During our time, one hero who was an egoist was Rajesh Khanna. And rightfully so. He gave so many hits. How can he stay away from success getting into his head?” she said.

Moushumi and Rajesh Khanna worked together in numerous films including Anuraag, Vijay, Ghar Parivaar, Prem Bandhan, and Humshakal.
