The singer and NFL player have been dating for several months and seem to be going from strength-to-strength but fans have voiced their concerns.
Taylor Swift’s fans have warned her to dump boyfriend Travis Kelce, calling his behaviour during the 2024 Super Bowl a “red flag”.
The Anti-Hero singer, 34, and NFL player, also 34, have been dating for several months and appear to be going from strength-to-strength, with Swift even jetting in from Japan to watch Kelce’s team the Kansas City Chiefs storm to victory against the San Francisco 49ers at the big sporting event on Sunday.
While they put on a loved up display on the field in front of the cameras at full-time, fans couldn’t shake off the image of the tight tend screaming in the face of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, 65, during the match, and even seemed to shove him at one point.
Some took to social media and called for Kelce to be benched as a result of the behaviour, but others urged Swift to revaluate her love life as a result.
“Taylor needs to leave this man and save her reputation. Stop blaming the NFL on her, blame the journalists… look at this lunatic,” wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another described how they had gone off the sportsman after the incident, posting: “And just like that I’m suddenly less excited about Travis Kelce.
“You don’t get to ape up someone all aggressive like just because you’re frustrated. Taylor, my darling, my dove, my lamb, this is a big red flag.”
A third agreed, adding: “What kind of man assaults his coach for taking him out for a play? I hope Taylor Swift breaks up with Travis Kelce after the game.”
“I’m going to keep it between us unless my mic’d up tells the world. I was just telling him how much I loved him.”
Speaking to ESPN SportsCenter later, he was full of praise for his long-time coach and while he failed to apologise for the altercation, he dedicated the Chief’s Super Bowl win to him.
“Man, I was fired up — I was fired up that we weren’t hitting on all cylinders,” he told the US sports outlet.
“I had to give ‘Big Red’ a love tap and let him know that we were all here fighting for him no matter what. I just had to tell him I loved him real quick.
“I put so much trust in him and how he goes about being a head coach, as a leader — he’s one of the best leaders in the game. I can’t thank him enough for giving me opportunities year in, year out. This third one, this second one back-to-back, this one’s for him, no doubt.”
Kelce added: “I’ve got the greatest coach this game has ever seen.
“And he’s helped me a lot with that, with channeling that emotion, with channeling that passion. I owe my entire career to that guy and being able to kind of control how emotional I get and just love him.”
Reid also seemed keen to downplay what had happened, telling journalists, as reported by ABC: “He caught me off balance. I wasn’t watching.
“He was really coming over [and saying], ‘Just put me in, I’ll score. I’ll score.’
“So, that’s really what it was. I love that.”
