Mahomes, like many former and current NFL players, was excited after reports of Flag football becoming an Olympic sport for the first time surfaced.
The 2028 Olympic games will be on American turf in Los Angeles, California, and Team USA is expected to have a healthy portion of NFL athletes on the roster.
The games will consist of 5-on-5 play in a 50-yard size field with no linemen on either side of the ball.
However, Mahomes will be 32 years old by 2028, and he worries he may not be able to keep up with the speed.
“I definitely want to, but I’ve seen some of those guys play flag football, and they’re a little faster than I am.
“I know there’s not, like, linemen blocking for you. I’ll be 31 or 32 years old.
“If I can still move around, then I’m gonna get out there and try to throw the football around, maybe in LA.
“Just don’t tell Coach Reid or (Brett) Veach or anybody,” Mahomes said.
If Mahomes decides to play, he will have a star-studded roster to throw to.
Former teammate and current Miami Dolphins all-pro WR Tyrek Hill has professed his desire to play on the flag football team.
“Just being able to say, ‘Hey, I was able to play on the Olympic level and compete for a medal for the US.’ That would be special…
“If they’re serious about bringing flag football, sign me up. Sign the Cheetah up,” Hill said on his podcast.
Retired four-time Super Bowl champion and Five-time NFL Pro Bowler Rob Gronkowski revealed his Olympic interest to TMZ Sports.
“Hopefully, there’s no tryouts, and they just accept me.
“But I’m in. I’m going for that if there is flag football in the Olympics in 2028. USA going all the way!” Gronkowski said.
