Aarti Ravi, Ravi Mohan

Actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi appeared before the Chennai Family Court on 21 May to file individual petitions as their divorce proceedings continue. The couple, who have been making headlines since Ravi announced the split last year, have publicly accused each other throughout the ordeal.

Ravi opposes plea for cohabitation

At the recent hearing, Ravi Mohan reiterated that he had already granted a divorce. He urged the court to reject Aarti’s plea seeking cohabitation. Meanwhile, Aarti filed a petition demanding Rs 40 lakh per month as alimony.

The court has advised both parties to reconsider their petitions and has adjourned the case until 12 June.

Accusations and public statements continue

Just a day before the court appearance, Aarti issued a lengthy public statement, naming Kenishaa Francis—rumoured to be Ravi’s girlfriend—as the reason behind the breakdown of their marriage.

An excerpt from her statement read:

“The truth needs to be said—once and for all. Money, power, interference, or control—none of these are why our marriage suffers. There is a third person in our marriage. What broke us wasn’t something between us—it was someone outside. The ‘light of your life’ brought only darkness into ours. That’s the truth. This person was already in the picture—long before any divorce papers were filed. This isn’t guesswork. I have proof.”

Past allegations and divorce announcement

Ravi Mohan publicly announced his decision to part ways with Aarti last year. In his statement, he said:

“After much thought, reflections and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”

In response, Aarti claimed that the decision was made “without her consent”. The court had initially directed the couple to attend reconciliation sessions, which they complied with as per instructions.
