Paris Hilton is taking credit for the recent Barbie-inspired fashion craze regarded as ‘Barbiecore.’
The 42-year-old DJ has been a trendsetter since arriving on the scene back in the 2000s and claims she started dressing in the pink spirit of the Mattel doll long before Margot Robbie took over the silver screen in the box-office hit Barbie.
‘I was going for the Barbiecore vibes before there was even the word Barbiecore,’ she explained during the British Vogue Life in Looks video released on Thursday.
‘I invented it,’ she insisted. ‘Barbie is my idol. She is such an icon. I’ve looked up to her my entire life.’
To prove her point, Paris pointed out the photo of her rocking a plunging pink mini dress for the Maxim Lounge opening in Las Vegas in 2001. She accessorized the look with a purse featuring a pic of a Barbie doll.

‘This was a pink Versace dress that Donatella had given me and my pink Barbie bag that I got at FAO Schwartz in New York,’ Paris added.
The new mom — who recently clapped back at critics of the size of her son’s head — went on to discuss a few other red carpet looks from the era, which often included her favorite accessory: pet pooch Tinkerbell.
‘When I moved to New York, I didn’t have a stylist, an agent, a publicist, none of that. I did it all on my own and I used to love bringing my little Tinkerbell with me everywhere,’ she said.
‘It was just so much fun dressing her up ’cause she was like my first daughter. She was my best friend, my sidekick, my other half. I miss her so much.’
Another BFF she dished on was Nicole Richie, who found fame alongside Paris when they made their debut on the reality show called The Simple Life.
‘It was in 2003 and Nicole and I were on set doing the first photo shoot campaign for The Simple Life,’ she said while looking at a promo still.
‘One day I got a call from my agents and they said that they wanted my sister and I to go to the middle of nowhere and live on a farm and basically have our phones and money and everything taken away,’ she began.
‘And my sister Nicky immediately said no. The first person I thought of was Nicole Richie. She’s been my best friend since we were two years old.’

‘And we had so much fun with these looks. It was very like country but sexy. Lots of Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior. There wasn’t any reality shows out at this time. This was the first, the show was the start of it all.’
During the filming of the show in 2005, Paris and Nicole famously fell out.
The very public feud would make the fourth season of The Simple Life their last one together.

Falling out: During the filming of the show in 2005, Paris and Nicole famously fell out.
In 2005, Paris opened up about the rift but gave little insight into what actually transpired between the young stars.
‘It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends,” Paris said in a statement at the time. ‘Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.’
A few months later, Nicole then discussed her side of the story and claimed they ‘just grew apart’.
A year later, the pair were spotted having a dinner together in West Hollywood, proving their beef had been put to rest.
