The actress believes that people have diverse opinions about following trends and news online; however, she clarified not wanting it to consume most of her time, and she stays away as far as possible from social media unless absolutely required.

Jennifer Lawrence spoke with InStyle via Time and shared that her aversion to social media is rooted in the unrealistic beauty standards it propagates through posts from celebrities and influencers:

“If you are 20 pounds underweight and talk about eating pizza and fried chicken all the time, that’s not going to make people feel good about themselves.”

Jennifer Lawrence left the spotlight as everyone was 'sick' of her

Although she doesn’t post and say a lot, the Red Sparrow star revealed she watches what people share online:

“I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak. There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything. I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me.”

The 32-year-old actress told BBC Radio 1 via HuffPost how she will never have any social media account due to the public scrutiny that happened in the early years of her career:

“I will never get Twitter. I’m not very good on the phone or technology. I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me. If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not… I had that one locked and loaded… Because the Internet has scorned me so much. And I feel like I’m that girl in high school like, ‘You wanna talk about her? I’ll take my hoops off, I’m ready to go.’”

“Time does heal, you know. I’m not crying about it anymore. I can’t be angry anymore. I can’t have my happiness rest on these people being caught, because they might not be. I need to just find my own peace.”

Jennifer Lawrence called the incident “disgusting” and firmly asserted that just because she is a public figure, it does not mean she allows her private photos to be published online.

Jennifer Lawrence Makes Big Screen Comeback

“I do like the idea of comedy that makes people uncomfortable. I love when people are watching through their hands, through their fingers. Nothing makes me happier.”

No Hard Feelings also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Matthew Broderick, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Scott MacArthur, and will arrive in theaters on June 23, 2023.
