Ranbir Kapoor is one of the prominent faces in the Hindi film industry. The actor, who is popular for his versatile acting and boyish charms, debuted with Saawariya in 2007. At present, Ranbir is considered one of the finest actors in Bollywood with blockbuster films such as Rockstar, Barfi, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Sanju under his name. Apart from being a spectacular actor, Ranbir was previously known as a Casanova, and his romantic relationships with top actresses in Bollywood were the talk of the town.

When Karisma Kapoor wanted Ranbir Kapoor to marry Sonam Kapoor

However, Ranbir has finally settled down with Alia Bhatt, and the two are parents to their little bundle of joy, Raha. But did you know that before Alia came into his life, Ranbir’s cousin, Karisma Kapoor wanted the actor to marry another Kapoor actress? Well, Karisma always wished that Sonam Kapoor, daughter of Anil and Sunita Kapoor, to be her sister-in-law. For the unversed, Ranbir and Sonam have worked on two films together; the first is their debut film, Saawariya, and the other is Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, Sanju.

Sonam Kapoor once revealed that she is better friends with Ranbir Kapoor

Previously, on Koffee With Karan Season 5, Sonam graced the couch with Kareena Kapoor Khan. In the chat show, the host first recalled how there were rumours in the past that Sonam and Ranbir were together, hinting at a romantic relationship between them, and asked her thoughts on becoming Kareena’s sister-in-law. To this, Sonam said that Karisma has always wanted Ranbir to marry her but, she shared a friendly bond with Ranbir. In her words:

“I feel Lolo has plugged this. Karisma constantly wants that, but I think Ranbir and I are very very good friends, like better friends.”

When Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone made fun of Ranbir Kapoor

Moreover, Sonam Kapoor had once graced the Koffee couch with Ranbir’s ex-girlfriend, Deepika Padukone. During Season 3 of Koffee With Karan, the Saawariya actress revealed that she was not sure if Ranbir is a good boyfriend, and Deepika jokingly added that the actor should endorse condom brands. This comment by the two actresses even agitated the late veteran actor and Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor. However, all of them have let bygones be bygones and moved on in their respective lives.

Ranbir married his ladylove, Alia Bhatt, in April 2022 and, later, in the same year, welcomed their baby girl, Raha. Ranbir and Alia recently celebrated their second anniversary. Sonam, on the other hand, tied the knot with businessman Anand Ahuja in 2018. The couple was blessed with their son, Vayu Kapoor Ahuja, in 2022.
